Ummmmm......absolutely not.  I'm a guitar player and really picky about supposed "live" shows that are just studio engineered pieces.  Whitney's national anthem was one of those studio feats.....

Prince was definitely live.  There were times were open strings were ringing, notes were missed or held, and also when he knocked the mic over and you heard it thud on the stage before they muted it.  You can't time that stuff out perfectly if it was pre-recorded.  Absolutely live, not Memorex

I enjoyed the halftime show more than I did the game.  Prince actually is still capable of being both a musician and a performer.  Was actually refreshing, in a rather unimportant way.

The humid conditions in Tampa in 1991 contributed to Whitney Houston's decision to go with the recording, and it's that performance that remains "the benchmark," notes producer Rickey Minor, who's working with Beyoncé.

It's a long article about Beyonce getting ready to do the anthem, but the above quote is in there.  There are several references to it being pre-recorded if you Google it.  That doesn't make it any less moving of a rendition, but it helps to keep in mind it wasn't pulled off live.

Speaking of which, did anybody catch Billy Joel's version?  Whoever was running his pitch correction needs to be fired.  That was pretty blatent use of the squeeze box from someone that I've always had the utmost respect for as a musician.

The guitar's wireless system and wireless mics work off of DC current which will work fine if it's getting rained on.  They probably won't ever get used again, but it would survive the show.  Most professional quality gear can handle getting a bit wet as long as you're not dealing with power amps and such.

This is funny.

Prince actually writes far more songs for other performers than he sings himself.  He writes for all music genres, and is probably the most prolific songwriter today in the business, with thousands of songs published, and many more of his own work he has not released that he was not happy with.   He plays most of the various instruments on all his albums.  He's the poster child of the workaholic in the music industry.

Even if you don't like Prince, or his music, chances are some of your favorite songs have been written by him.

Got to give the Devil his due.

Yeah, that makes complete sense.  Kinda like saying that anyone who would carpet their garage so their beemer is comfy at night is a mid-life crisis nutjob.

Have to disagree here:

I liked the Blockbuster Total Access one with rabbit and guinea pig trying to figure out the "mouse" to get online.

Garmin Navigation Maposaurus was funny, but I'm old enough to remember Sunday mornings with cheesy Japanese monster movies, to appreciate how they did that one.

My favorites have to be the "tribal" CareerBuilder.Com commercials during the pre-game as well as the game.  Especially the "Darts, Jungle, Training Seminar" one that can be seen at YouTube.

Also, the Bud Rock-Paper-Sissors, and Emerald Nuts, and a couple of the Coke commercials (Video Game and Side of Life) weren't too bad.
