today i upgraded my system  i bought a       p3 500                                        gigabyte ga6vxe+ motherboard                 im running win 98 with directx 7a            i had no problems at all till today. now when i set res. to 1024x768 the game locks up within a min. or so.  my desktop is set for same res.  when i set res. higher  it wont lockup  but i cant see very well and my fps  goes to about  20 to 22.  i got the upgrade to improve  fps  but no go.  i have a v770 ultra with new dentenator 3 drivers. my old cpu was an amd k-6 2 450. need help figuring this out  thx

Is your video card overclocked?
If not then I would suggest pulling the side off your case and see if it doesn't lock up.

With my video card too overclocked I get lockups due to the excess heat built up.  And with my p2450 I had to run with the side of the case off to keep excess heat down running the cards at normal speed.  I just couldn't get enough airflow through the case.

yes  the sides are off. i decided this morning to put my old vid card in.  its a monster fusion 16meg.  i played for a few hrs with no problem. it just doesnt look very good  kinda  choppy and blocky. but no lockups. anymore suggestions would be appreciated.
