I have a Toshiba 40GB mp3 player hooked up using the auxillary port on my sound card.  With close to 2000 songs on random mode it keeps those long flights not so boring.  Best part is it doesnt use resources in contrast to opening windows media player or winamp.

Flying with music also improves my flying as I suck even worse with music off.

I've always flown with music.

Iron Maiden      -     Aces High, The Clairvoyant, Wasted Years, Running Wild
Megadeth         -     Entire Youthanasia album
Metallica           -     One, King Nothing, various others
Pantera            -     Pantera songs in general

Just to name a few of the best bands of all time that I tend to listen to while playing.

Yep, I run with my iTunes going.  Got hundreds of songs, and various playlists for playing with fighters, bombers, GV defense, and buff runs.

Some notable tunes, but no where near all, include activity specific ones (buffs, goons) and general songs.  My tastes go all over the place, and often what I listen to depends on my mood at the time in the game, and that day.

When I'm running a Goon:
"Free Ride" by Edgar Winter --- especially when dropping vehicle supplies
"High Wire" The Rolling Stones
"Smuggler's Blues" Glen Frey (yes, I'm Miami Vice generation.
"Stop the Rock" and "Time is Running Out" by Apollo 440
"Radar Rider" Riggs
"Tall Cool One"  Robert Plant
"Looking For A Place To Land" Dakota Moon
"Rescue Me" Fontella Bass
"Working In a Coal Mine"  Devo ('Heavy Metal' Soundtrack)

Buff Runs will have songs like:
"Heavy Metal" both  Sammy Hagar's and Don Felder's (aka 'Taking A Ride'... if you've watch the movie 'Heavy Metal' you know it).
"The Mob Rules" Black Sabbath
"I Can't Break Away" Big Pig
"Epic" Faith No More
"Bom Bom Bom" Living Things
"Carmina Burana: O Fortuna"  (if you've ever seen movie "Excalibur"...)
"Battle Without Honor Or Humanity"  Tomoyasu Hotel
"Turbo Lover", "The Sentinel", "Hard As Iron", "Ram it Down", and "Delivering the Goods"  from Judas Priest.
"Flower"   Moby
"To Sick To Pray"   Alabama3
"Soul-Man"  The Blues Brothers
"On the Road Again"   Canned Heat
"Missing Time"  MDFMK

Others:
"DOA"  Foo Fighters
"Cars" Fear Factory (MPH Mix)
"South Side"  Moby and Gwen
"Animals"  Nickelback
"Black Betty"  Spiderbait
"Absurd"  (Whitewash Ed) Fluke
"Block Rocking Beats" and "Leaving Home"  by The Chemical Brothers
"The Revolution"  BT
"Forsaken" D avid Drainman
"Viva Las Vegas"  ZZ Top
"Sinnerman"  Nina Simone
"Millionaire" and  "Infinity"  by Queens of the Stone Age
"Feuer Frei"  Rammstein
"Powertrip" and "Space Lord"  by Monster Magnet
"your Disease" and "Click Click Boom"   by Saliva
"Are You Gonna Be My Girl"  Jet
"Detroit Rock City"  as done by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
"L.A. Woman" as done by Billy Idol as well as "Shock To The System", "Pumping On Steel", "The Right Way", "Necromancer", and "Buried Alive"
"Head Like a Hole" and The Hand That Feeds"  by the Nine Inch Nails
"All Fired Up"  Pat Benatar

And for when I need to listen to VOX more, about a dozen selections from Blue Man Group as well as some Electronic tunes (think dance club).

I also have some selections of World Music to set the tone:
"Chaiyya Chaiyya Bollywood Joint" Sapna Awasthi & Sukwinder Singh  and "Kallas" by Asha Bhosle, Sapna Awasthi & Sudesh Bhosle,  as the mood strikes me.

Thinking of adding Grand Funk Railroad's "Queen Bee" to pipe over VOX next time I run in one of Betty's missions.

Music adds a lot to my gaming.

woooot

The real issue here is that you are using realplayer. How can you stand *buffering....* using that horr*buffering....*ible piece of softwar*buffering....*e?!?

I have four folders of WWII era music. Original German, Russian and Allied songs. I also have a folder of instrumentals of Japanese marches.

Depending on what type of plane I’m flying that evening – I just open the appropriate folder with windows media player, and have it in the background.

More often than not, I have this music on. Charging into a GV fight aboard a T34 with Russian marches blaring is a hoot!
My password at work had to contain exactly 8 characters… I chose Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
