All the cards on the table?

What's to prevent those intent on destroying a democratic Iraq from simply biding their time? We won't be there forever. Perhaps this general seeks to provoke large scale attempt to defeat our aim? What's your take?

Dunno.... Hillery may surprise us once she has real power.   Become America's version of Maggie "Cast Iron B****" Thatcher.   Fear US!

Its all about power there.  Last ones that dealt with that part of the world effectively were the Mongols.  Pax Mongolia.  Even if it had to be the peace of the grave.

Trying to use western ideals and concepts in the middle east is usually the first step toward failure.

I'm guessing the leaders of the insurgency (no doubt Iran is influential in this) feel they cannot wait for us to leave for two reasons. 1. They want to reveal our weaknesses and portray us as uncommitted. 2. Allow democracy and peace to flourish in Iraq for any length of time and the Iraqi people will resist their attempts to undermine their stability.

I do believe this new theatre commander is challenging the insurgents to a duel.

Come November '08 America will have been under the leadership of two families for twenty years straight.

For this single frightening reason I'll vote for someone other than a Bush or Clinton.
