Hi Fradim!   What are your system specs? driver versions might help as I could compare anything we have the same of to see if maybe updated drivers could help.

Heya westy :-)

Thank you for you interest. I have a p3@550  128 Mb with viper 550 - 0.48 reference drivers.

I have been using hires terrain for some time. When I've updated to 1.04p0 I have noticed this problem but after a fresh install everything worked fine. I should have learned to be more cautious. But I didn't ;-) So, when I have updated with 1.04p1 I had this problem. I had a backup, but it didn't work. Maybe it's something wrong in registry.

Thx in advance

fradim

Try having AH re-dtect your video by deleting the video.cfg in your Aces High "settings" folder. It may help. AH doesn't change anything on your PC with drivers or new DX software so maybe doing this might help.

Hiya fradim,
I am naturally suspicious of updates especially auto-updaters. Every time there is a new release I get the whole version and uninstall the old one, defrag, and then reinstall fresh. It's a bit of a pain but I never have any problems unless they are bugs in the release You just save your settings folder and sights and sounds if you are using custom ones of either and its pretty painless. Defrag is optional but it definitely helps and if done regularly takes very little time even on a large drive.

I would try this and see if that doesnt help.
Then think about reinstalling your vid drivers. But if you have no lockups or other system issues I doubt thats needed.

Good luck and let me know if you need more help.

Hi straffo,
Newer is NOT always better... The 0.48 Reference build are the fastest drivers for TNT 1 cards. Its an old card and wouldnt even run the new detonator drivers, even if they are SLOWER than the 0.48s on this card. Just wanted to clarify this. If you are interested in driver performance, there is a thread on AGP H&S Forum about TNT II drivers and which ones are the fastest in WB and AH. Can you guess which build? Well its the very earliest build both for the Creative and Diamond proprietary builds AND the Nvidia reference builds. the reasons why are somewhat shrouded in mystery but it has to do with both WB and AH utilizing a relatively older D3D graphics engine. Check it out, it's an excellent post and represent alot of work on the part of the contributors to the thread. (I helped   )

thx guys :-)

Kb, I´ve done all you´ve recommended - except for defrag - but couldn´t come back to latest version :-(

I already have dx 7.0a installed. I will create another partition and install a fresh windows there and see if it works. Boy, I am not so enthusisastic about it though ;-)

roger that about reformatting and reinstalling

I found nothing in the registry. There is an instal.log in your Aces High folder that is more specific for you but as far as I can tell AH makes no changes to your PC that would effect your PC or hardware.
