Bomb Wing - Update
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:09:24 PM »

Sorry its been so long since the first run of Bomb Wing. I had computer problems. We can expect another mission soon. Above are the particpants that were in Mission#1.

It may still be a few weeks out, but since we flew so well together, and made such a pretty formation, I was thinking that we should go as a unit to the SUNDAY FEB. 25th at 9pm running of the Snapshot in the SEA. See Nef's thread on that in this forum. I'm not completely sure how its going to play out, if you have to be in squads, or not, but I'm sure they'd enjoy the participation from us.

We could have a good time, and look good doing it :)

Stay tuned for upcoming Bomb Wing Mission #2

Sounds good.

Link to that event:

Given my choice, I'd take B-17's over the B-24's..... B-17's seem to take a little more damage, B-24's catch fire easily.  B-17's can airspawn.... never tried B-24's.

REALLY need players to practice, or be aware of, the AIRSTART for bombers in this event..... or you will lose many planes.  You can rip wings right off if done wrong.

A couple points:
DO bombers all start together, or among 3 fields (well, 2 airspawn, no sense in using A71 "take off" field when we need to stay above 18K)?
Have fighters airspawn separately may be a good idea for frame rates and coordination?

Snapshot is looking for 20 sets of buffs, plus escorts, plus 50/50 allies/Axis..... those are some big numbers, so Bomb Wing participation would be great.

If B-17's, go 12 x 500 lbs.  Salvo 3 if you intend to hit all 4, Salvo 4 for 3 if that seems more doable......  With High, Lead, and Low Box last last time will work great.  Rolling carpetbomb....  set salvo and delay.  Lead planes drop first, middle planes drop 1/3 way across, rear planes drop over last 1/3rd of target..... you will get a rolling bomb wave through the target.  Or divide the target into quarters length-wise.

Drop on lead is more realistic.... but being more realistic here means delay and salvo everything on ONE target.  I think we can get 3.  But, that is CO's prerogative.

Rest I'll leave until teams are set and we're in the air due to OpSec and ComSec considerations.
