Map Resets
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:52:21 AM »
Can anyone tell me why HiTech thinks it is necessary to reset the map back to the original fields as soon a the war has been won?  More than once it has cost me a perk plane or vehicle because I was defending our own base when the war was won and all of a sudden it become a base for the other side and you are killed by the field ack or can't land on what was your ouwn field any longer.

yeah it's a bummer dude. If you can fly your ride off until reset you don't loose anything.  I think HT is a griefer at heart, that's why it is like this.

You don't get any warning. The moment war is won, the fields change. If you are just taking of or landing that very moment, youre dead.
Arena reset is 4mins later.

When "The War is won", you get "5 mins until terrain change".   I agree with July865.

Yes. The terrain changes in 5mins. But the fields on that "old" terrain change in the very moment the war is won. So there is absolutely NO warning before Ack starts to fire on you. And that is what the thread is about.

Yes, what Lusche says above.

Some of the fields change ownership, CV's too, at the instant the war is won.

If you happen to be right over the field, taking off or landing, when the war is won, at a field that changes, u are in deep doodoo.

You're missing what he is saying. If you happen to be landing or close to one of your own bases, the "second" the last base needed to win the war is taken, the entire map resets then.. Not 5 mins later.

The server might reset the game in 5 mins, but the maps changes the instant you see "the war was won by the Rooks"  (:D  because we all know Rooks always win) So anyway if you are at a friendly base you are dead meat then not 5 mins later. I rarely fly perk planes but I lost a p38 because of this a reset or two ago.. So I could understand how it would feel to lose a perk plane.

I've been playing for 5 years, I don't need a warning.  Have I lost 262's to "war terrain changes"?   Yes, but you won't find a thread whining about losing a perk plane that way.  It is to be expected.    There shouldn't be a thread.

Look at the field ratio before taking off in a 262, if we're shot down by ack from a terrain change,  it is but no fault our own.

A legitimate point, Karaya --

but I think Target has a point too. While we've gotten used to the risk of losing that last sortie, is it really a necessary part of the game mechanic? Would it be hard to change?

It's not only a perk plane problem, by the way. I get much more frustrated when I've been doing a ripping job of defense, maybe run up some kills, and find that the great sortie will simply not count because the reset took away all opportunity for landing the flight.

(And in case any reading don't know this, a sortie in does not count after a reset unless you terminate it by landing, dying, ditching, or whatever. If you stay in the air (or alive in your GV) until the server dumps you out, the game treats that sortie as if it never happened. That means you WILL NOT lose perks for a 262 or tiger, unless the ack kills you before the reset.)

feewings....nofing moo, than feewings....twying to forgeeeeet.

Not a big issue IMO.  I've lost perk stuff to when this happens, temps, 262's, F4C's off carriers...its a bummer, if I wore glasses when it happened, they would slide down my nose at that moment.

Then I up a yak and shoot lots down, get the perks back.  Tell my fiance how uber I am cause of it.  Been asking her to call me Dredger, no luck yet.

You are missing the point.  When the war is won, the bases change and you may be trapped 100 miles behind enemy lines.   4 minutes isn't enough time to fly to freedom.

That said, I heard a disco doesn't hurt you when that happens...I also heard landing on concrete gets a successful landing.

Finally....who really cares?   lol

Nope, read my second post (some people got it the first time around).   Both posts go hand in hand.   Only point that was missed was mine.    I don't care, I just like stating facts.
