Is damage linear?
« on: February 15, 2007, 05:31:56 PM »
For example, if you bomb 50% of a town.  Does that slow the rebuild of the airfield by X amount?  Or is it a 100% destoryed or nothing type of thing?

bombing towns at fields does nothing except help to capture it.

bombing the strategic factories is a different matter

any damage to a strat slows the rebuild of that strat on fields ie:

bomb the radar factory, then kill the radar at an airfield, the time it takes for the radar at that airfield to rebuild is longer depending on how damaged the strat is.

bombing the large city effects the rebuild time of all the strats themselves.

nothing ever changes the downtime of the hangars, and nothing ever speeds up the rebuild of hangars likewise.

I think Mustaine has answered your question. But if you were trying to capture an airfield, then the town has to be killed 100% at the time you send the Troops into the map room or you can't capture. You can ignore the one indestuctable building in the town that looks like a hanger.

Actually we were just trying to figure out why sometimes if you bomb a hanger, it seems to stay down for quite a bit, and other times it seems to stay down only five minutes.

Hangers are to my knowledge on a set 15 minute rebuild time.  What you may be experiencing is that one of the hangers (ex. multiple VHs on a Vbase or multi fighter hangers on an airfield) may have been brought down before the others.  Since the 15 minute timer applies to each hanger individually, if one had been knocked down 10 minutes before your arrival, you would experience only a 5 minute "downtime" after you destroy the others.

Hope that helps.  :aok
