I suppose I can do a serious reply as well.
Cav there are plenty of pilot-only message boards out there. I'm sure you've found them. Those discussions happen there and that's really where they're applicable.
Debonair kinda hit the nail on the head
Lighten up, Francis.
And under no circumstances is 17,000/yr "doable" its more like laughable.
Eagle is one of the better paying regionals out there and first year FO pay is the same for both the propeller and jet fleets. Bare minimum pay without effort is going to bring you in about $23,000 base. Still horrible but it's not 17. 2nd year in the RJs breaks 30k. Not bad for some joe who at that time would have maybe 1200-1500hrs after their first year on reserve. They also let you pick your base prior to employment...try that and having it guaranteed at other regionals.
Heck after the first year at Eagle I'd be making more than at my first jet job, have the lovely benefit of having a schedule, jumpseat benefits and would know my base.
Between that and AMR ramping up to bring back some of their guys from the street in addition to the flowbacks at Eagle that 7 year upgrade is going to go away too.
If you want 17 try Great Lakes of Big Sky.
