Hurri I convergence
« on: February 11, 2007, 03:12:29 PM »
If they realy worked this way than never mind.

Was setting convergence on planes I haven't flown and noticed that the inner 4 303s fire as primary and the outer 4 as secondary. But in the hanger, when changing convergence the are grouped alternatly.

Used the target with primary set at 150 and secondary at 650. I seems no matter which group is fired, one pair converges at 150 and the other at 650. Makes it hard to set primary and secondary to 2 different convergences.

I did a BB search but came up dry.

Spit 1 seems to be the same way.

As an aside, the guns are so weak that you really need ALL of them hitting the same spot or you'll never get kills. To that end, you also NEVER want to fire outside 200 yards (150 better) because these rounds lose almost all lethality outside that.

So, in the long run it doesn't matter because the guns should never have different convergences, and they should never be set out to maximum range.

Other than that, sorry for butting-in.

I've got mine set in a pattern at 350 and 325 but for the most part I don't open fire outside of 300.

With 8 of them hitting it's a better gun package than you might imagine but you don't want to make them fly very far.

I've got the .303's on the Spit V set up similarily but with the Spit I keep the 20mm's at 650.

Seems to work pretty well for me.

Only set them that way to make sure I was right. It is an error that needs to be fixed(eventualy) IMHO. Would seem setting a single convergence is manditory even though you are given a choice. A bad one at that.

I would think that several players have taken for granted that they could set 2 convergences only to wind up with several hit sprites without knocking off parts. Not knowing that they have only two guns firing at the range they think four are unless they fire all. And then they only get 4 of 8.

The Hurri I and Spit I have enough handicaps without this. A fix may get it a little more usage.

Might explain part of the complaints that 303s are only deadly in someone else's hands.

I was more or less responding to Krusty's post.

I finally got what you were saying in your first post and if that's true (I haven't tested it) I'd agree it should be fixed.

That said, I can't imagine not wanting to fire all guns when they are .303's and, if you have the convergences set close, it's only a minor issue.
