Mayor Nagin and Warren Riley in contempt?
« on: February 17, 2007, 10:16:12 PM »
I haven't been able to find coverage of this event in any of the major news sources. Has anyone seen or heard of this case?

In a nutshell, a suit was filed against the City of New Orleans by the Second Amendment Foundation and the NRA over the firearm confiscations during Katrina. Apparently, the city hasn't provided the requested info about these confiscations despite having 17 months to dig it up. Still, holding a mayor and police superintendent in contempt seems like a futile gesture.

Quote
BELLEVUE, WA – A United States District Judge in New Orleans has granted a motion to hold Mayor C. Ray Nagin and Police Superintendent Warren Riley in contempt for failure to provide initial disclosures and answers to discovery in a lawsuit filed by the Second Amendment Foundation.

Judge Carl J. Barbier issued a blistering rebuke to New Orleans’ defense counsel for conduct that is “wholly unprofessional” and warned that it “shall not be condoned.”

Yea I posted about this a week or two ago.  http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=199076&highlight=nagin

The 2nd Amendment crowd speaks some truth that when the shat hits the fan the first thing the liberals will go after is to disarm the law abiding populuce.

It's pathetic if you ask me.  Taking guns away from citizens when they need them the most.

Ray Nagin is one of the most incompetent mayors in the country.  In addition to being held in contempt by this judge, he has been unable to prevent New Orleans' government from returning to the same-old-same-old.  Corruption, drugs, gangs, violence....record setting murder rate.

No amount of money could induce me to live in New Orleans.

The only reason this clueless chowder-head keeps getting elected is because large portions of his electorate, conditioned by decades of Huey Long style promises of government largesse, prefer a corrupt democrat to an honest Republican.

Yes, I would agree that if a federal court judge issued an order to the executive branch of a state or the federal government to produce documents...it should be done post haste.

Nagin should be "polar bear food".   He's useless anywhere else.
