Help Desk, before there were computers...

Man I've worked tech support for 4 years and that still hits close to home. Even in this day and age and dealing with people that are supposed to be experts, or at least trained, on the systems I supported I would get calls that were almost as bad as that one.

I had one guy that wanted me to hold his hand over the phone and talk him through re formatting a hard drive on a tactical computer system. I told him to follow the steps in the manual and his response was, "I don't want to read the manual, I want you to tell me step by step how it's done and walk me through it."

Yeah right. This guy was a First Class Electronics Tech. I thought my Chief was going to go through the roof when I told him what was going on.

The guy ended up getting busted because I ended up sending him a new hard drive pre loaded with software and he lost it on the ship. Tried to cover his butt by bringing in an old hard drive from his home and installing that but it wouldn't work. The pre loaded one I sent him was classified because of the OS installed on it and he lost the thing. What a duffas.

Looks like Norse.
Nilsen?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
