Off topic...

i just downloaded that and tried it offline... that game is awful - 160mph sopwith camels, gun power ups?  First world war aircraft which dont lift off until 80+ mph?

AH is a war simulation, it is a lot harder to fly and much more realistic than that.

Storm of Aces =$4.99
Aces high 2 =$14.99

It's maybe worth a try... When it's sorted.

Maybe Hitech should start to lower the price of the game ;)

FYI

You just grabbed the installer and played in an offline arena?

That was the game from Dec. 2004.  It was first built to be an arcade shooter, but then they decided to flesh it out.

It is a lot different in the fully updated version, unfortunately BETA testing for that is over and the full version updated game is unavailable @ the moment & no word on its release date...
I think its in the crapper...

The current in game physics for the F.1 Camel are

Maximum speed: 115 mph (185 km/h)
Stall speed: 48 mph (77 km/h)
Range: 300 mi (485 km)
Service ceiling: 21,000 ft (6,400 m)
Rate of climb: 1,085 ft/min (5.5 m/s)

Armament
Guns: 2× 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Vickers machine guns

The game graphically appears identical to the older Small Rockets game "Red Ace Squadron Pro". but plays identical to FA. The only map was a small Europe map.

Funny you should say that. HTC dropped the cost by half a few years ago.

actually , The Damned Air Group, is "The Damned"  I in my infinite wisdom asked all the different Damned squads to change their names to be listed as :The Damned Air Group" about 4 or 5 yrs ago, because people in AH questioned  or suggested we kept certian players in certian squads  , when we are all the same , we are Damned, we are family........there is noone better than the next...... we have been Damned for some odd 18 to 19 years........ but yes

The FA Damned  is different squad than "The Damned"  although we go by "The Damned Air Group" nowadays here in Aces High only.......

I am not doubting there is other Damned squads that were started up by others.......heck some come here and have started 3 or 4 squads with "Damned" in their squad name, even named identical sometimes.......it happens, and there is nothing wrong with it...... I just do not recall a Damned squad or squads in FA although I did stop flying  right about 2.0 on a consistent basis( went and checked my 3 gameids were _AWTC_, BZkiller and TequilaC), only to go back and evaluate the FA sim at each new upgrade/patch / version..... still do so with all other sims out there to this day, .except most times nowadays I sign in under a different name when I go back to check em out,  except for Targetware's games........(which has a been a lil while, and if they erased the data base, I prob lost my gameid there too.)

kewl ego inflated history there, thanks for the link, btw ~S~

as I said, Bruv, I don't doubt there was a Damned squad there, heck I was  there, even though it was short lived..... and before the 2.0 version ...... and it is interesting to find out there is another squad out there or use to be called the Damned......thanks for the wiki link ......this was just a curious question I had, nothing more, no worries

~SALUTE~  Bruv.......is a crapper they left your feats out of the history, though..........that isn't right at all, you are a part of the history, you should have your spot.........even if it is ego inflated :D

as a side note - there is also another Damned squad/ or Damned Group as well......who popped up sometime ago , guessing 7 to 9 yrs......we had a discussion about it on our Damned mail list back then........... they was not in FA though, was some other online game.......

Its not the numbers. Ive been in a 700 man arena, and found 2 good fights. Just last week I was in the AvA with 4 people and having the time of my life. In general, there are great numbers. But its also which arena you frequent. And its not just fighters, im making a name for myself in bombers while I remain a baby seal in anything that goes more than 250 mph
