Video Cards for AH....In your opinion.....

      What is the best PCI slot video card?  My PC does not have a AGP slot.  Im thinking a Diamone Viper V550-16mb ram?

The Viper 550 is a nice little 3D card, mine's worked very well for me so far.  However it is getting a little old as far as video cards go.

The lastest batch of the 3dfx and nVidia cards are the way to go if you have the cash (they run about 250.00 and up).  If cash is a little tight, I suggest the 770 vice the 550, first it has 32 meg of vid memory while the 550 has only 16, and you should be able to find one fairly cheaply now.

Just REMEMBER buy ONLY the 770Ultra there are some cheapo knock offs out there that are really junk and will perform worse than what you already have.  Stick with the Ultra and you should have no problems.

On the subject of TNT2 Ultras. For those of you who have the Creative Blaster TNT2 Ultra card, dont upgrade the Bios from their website. I did so and it no longer works with HTC.

How's that new GeForce MX ?

I've got a 3D prophet which works great (till i tried to upgrade the bios, now toast till i figure if i need to send it to factory or can recover it myself). i'm not sure if they make it in PCI...but i've seen em for $199 so a nice bang for the buck if they do.

I but a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI in in the meantime and it runs worse than i hoped. 24-30 FPS of line. Based on that I'd agree the TNT 2 would be a better choice.
