Can you when you have a chance see why front page doesnt work with the browser Opera. Its much faster and doesnt crash like new netscape 4.75. Dont let game suffer for it though.

I found Opera 4.0 doesn't work with UBB boards so I went back to Netscape as 4.0 over wrote 3.62(?) which worked ok.
Luckily I did not buy Opera but had an extended <cough> test period. It certainly is not worth paying for even though it has the potential to be so much better than Netscape or IE. IMO that is.

Want a fast lite browser with IE's UI and the mozzilla rendering engine?

 http://gnullsoft.kmeleon.org/

It's in early beta, but looks very promising.  I don't know if this version supports cookies yet, but I just quickly loaded it up and it did read this BBS just fine.  It apparently meets all standards so it should be very compatible.

Did I mention it's blazingly fast?

Westy Opera is working fine with the BB after I activated all the plugins. The only problem is that large java (think its java) on bottom of front page. Everything else is fine. Mucho faster and no crashes as the new Netscape does.

Thanks Lephtunr, I'll check into that one too!!!!

Indian, there are so many plugins, which ones do you think did the trick? I imagine it was one of the cache managers. DO you remember if you used "About my cache" or "Opera file explorer"?
BTW, I am using version 4.0.0.741 with the Java runtime 1.3. Same as you or ???

[edit: I removed Opera 4.0,  installed 4.2 with java built in, then changed "check modified" under cache settings to always and it looks ok now. thanks guys!]

 Thanks!

Thanks Indian. That or the upgrade to 4.02 did the trick. Opera works SO much better than IE and Netscape. Much less resources used and it RARELY ever crashes. I'm not crazy about the news and email parts but I use Gravity and Calypso for those anyway.

I didn't forget about this, Indian, and I meant to talk to you at the con about Opera.  It seems Opera doesn't support some aspects of CSS, which is what our front page uses, but support "is anticipated in future versions of Opera".  I'll keep an eye out for those future versions.
