Power Supply?
« on: February 20, 2007, 09:01:17 PM »
Looking at getting a bigger power supply since a lot have said my comp issue right now is power supply and ran a power calculator that was on the nvidia website and said I need at least 380W and Im running a 300W atm.

Anyone have a good brand they would like to blurb out?

I was looking at a 680W A-Power from geeks.com but I have never heard of that brand so was wondering what power supplies does the AH community recommend?

By what I read Thermaltake and Antec's are pretty decent power supplies but would like the AH community's opinion.

Edit: Hoping to get something between 450W-550W.  Figure have some extra wattage in case.

FSP (a.k.a. Fortron Source)

This is what I have:

I got the lower wattage due to lack of $$$ but it's pretty good so far. Had it for a little while now.

I have 2 seasonic power supplies and they're nice.  Quiet, well built, good reputation.  I got a modular one.  They're a bit pricy but not really much more than a comparable antec and less than the good pc-power and cooling ones.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Enermax is pretty good i think.

Get a new one, blown power supply can mean some serious damage  to the rest of your comp.... including wrecked disks due to elektrocution.
