possible lag issue???
« on: August 08, 2001, 10:49:00 AM »
I'm going nuts here.. i've been playing close to 1 year now.. for the last 5 months or so i've been having probs getting 1 single kill... yes i've gotten a couple but the problem i find is:

1 i finally get behind someone (no not a bomber) and uload every round the mg/cannons have into it and it escapes unharmed...

(before you start about not using a big enough gun... (come on .. even 1000 rounds of small cailber will harm the pilot atleast!!)

but i usually fly spit V, nik, sometimes p51, p38, 109 a8, 190, yak, so some planes have good sized cannons...

2: 90% of the time .. i take 1 plink.. 1 hit of any kind .. and my plane gets disemboweld... i mean either a wing or my entire tail section comes appart.. i've yet in the past month gotten 1 engine hit at all.. just the plane falls appart...  no i'm not over g's in the plane either...

look my call sing up in the socres.. i've gotten kills before... but all of a sudden .. i couldnt kill anything if i used a cheat that turned call6's into tac nukes...

hell i'm affraid that even a call6 would shred my plane ...

the reason i post to the board is i am sick of getting those whiner replies in the ma and being asked over and over again what plane i'm flying .. it does not matter what plane .. i could be in a b25 and my planr will come appart at the seams with 1 hit..

my net connection is an 1sdn 128k (very clean) i'm not using a firewall. no proxy...

my machine is a p3/800 with 384 megs ram (133 speed) and 40 gig hdd 7200 rpm and a geforce2 gts 32 meg vid card (so i should not be having any machine lag at all..)

real responces will be appriciated .. flames ignored...

RedWolf..

- now will someone get that p51 off my butt!!

Weird. Lag could certainly effect your hits on other aircraft, but I don't think that would explain the one-ping massive damage on your plane. Are you seeing hit sprites when you hammer away at someone? If not, check your convergence setting. I recommend you do some testing off-line and on-line with someone to get to the bottom of it...

What drivers are you using for that video card?  Do you have V-synch enabled?  Sometimes having "wait for V-synch" disabled will give you the "rubber bullets" effect where you can't seem to do any damage.

Other than that, it would be best if you met with a trainer in the TA to try some things out.  We'll be able to more easily identify the problem that way.  What timezone are you in, and when would be convenient?

gunthr: yep .. ive seen less lights on xmas trees than on planes i "light up" with my cannons...

lephturn:

hrmm i've been using det3 drivers from nvidia .. i've also experienced it with the leaked det 4 drivers and the creative labs own drivers as well.. i normaly turn off vsynch to get higher framerates...

i'm in cst .. (houston tx) i'll be available friday nite and most of sat i think.. sunday as well.. course sat i'll be at work running my machine on a t3 so lag should not be an issue then (and would help trouble shoot if it was a hardware/software (drivers directx 8a. ect...) prob..

one thing i like about the ah crowd over the ao (anarchy online) and wwiionline webboard crowd.. no "flame the whiner attitude".. it's more of a help him try sort out the prob attitude that makes this crowd and board better  :)
