Stick map functions lost?
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:04:09 AM »
My stick, throttle and rudder suddenly don't work today.   No hat input, no buttons, nothing.

I have flown a couple months without any problems, and had the stick buttons all mapped out.

I can see under the Map Controllers clipboard that the Thrustmaster Cougar is selected, and Mode Selection is "1" - planes and default.

When I move the control inputs in this screen, I can see the values of the control inputs change properly for X, Y., Z, etc.

Its like the tie between the controller inputs and the game has been erased.

One weird thing did happen last night - autopilot stopped "holding" and my plane would veer crazily.   I was getting the message "Don't move your controls so fast" even though I wasn't working them rapidly.   I managed to recalibrate in flight, and everything seemed to work OK again.    I logged after that, and this morning all the mappings seem to be lost (even the obvious ones like rudder, aileron, and elevator input).    Those I never had to set myself - when the game recognized the Cougar, all the major functions were set, I believe.

Any ideas what happened?

hardtack,
i think that the mode wasnt correctly selected when you started your sortie.

first make sure that not only mode1 is mapped in setup, but also mode2 (vehicles) and that the box "autoselect mode at start of flight" is checked. When you spawn, always make sure the correct mode is being selected (chat buffer message in orange text!) - mode1 when in a plane, mode2 when in a GV.

Of course you can also map keys to select the modes manually.

If autopilot is being thrown of and you get that "dont move controls so rapidly" message, you probably need to recalibrate the Joystick in game (and maybe also windows). If that doesnt help, you might need to add some deadband and damping to the scaling.
21 is only half the truth.

Strange !

Last night I upped a GV and couldn't leave the garage! after a few checks I discovered Mode2 was no longer mapped! Easily put right by Copy of Mode 1 and I was off as usual.

The other odd thing that happen was the dialog box popped up for some-one wanting to Join me (This time while flying). Now this is usually in the message buffer, I have not had the dialog box pop up in what seems like years.

I am not aware of changing any of these settings, so both caught me by suprise!
