PBY and perk buffs
« on: February 24, 2007, 01:52:24 AM »
I still want to see a PBY in the game.  No idea what I'd do with it, but I want it.

As for perk buffs:

By the war's end the U.S. had a radar controlled anti shipping missile.  It was carried on a single tail varient of the B24.  This aircraft carried remote controlled 20mm cannon mounts instead of the usual waist 50 cals.  Not sure of the rest of it's guns.  This would be an awesome perk bomber, without going all out with a nuclear armed B-29

Hmm, a radar equipped PBY?  yeah.  Black Cat Time.

The A26 Invader would be a good Perk bomber too.

OOOOoooooo The Stuka with the 37 MM gunb pods would be a good perk bomber.

The Japanese Rocket Kamikaze would be an OUTSTANDING perk bomber.

I don't think the soviets had anything perkable.

Perk the Lanc, and give the Brits the Wellington.  (donthitme)

Make a change to the AR234 so you can aim those miserable rear cannons with the periscope!  I think that's what the periscope was for.  And, I believe those cannon were on a flex mount.

Add a model of the 262 that can carry eggs, call it a perk bomber just to be mean.

Add the SB2c Hell Diver and call that a perk bomber.  O_O

I'm rambling.  The point is that there are planes missing from the bomber fleet, espescially at the perk level.

OH! One last idea for a Perk Bomber.  The B25-H with the 8 50s in the nose plus the 75mm howitzer.  And, just to be mean put a button on the dash that you have to mouse click to reload it after each round is fired.  I understand that cannon had a crewman who reloaded it one shot at a time.  This would be an awesome perk bomber and a pain in the *** at the same time.

And that B24 you were talking about is the Navy version called the PB4Y-2 Privateer.

Theres nothing special about this bomber, but it would be a very nice heavy bomber for the Russians. About 79 were built from 1936-1944. Russians weren't big fans of heavy bombers. Another cool bomber would be the Yer-2 with 300 built.

The Pe-2 and the Tu-2 could work as a good russian perk bomber, as both bombers are fast and carry a variety of weapons.

Don't think any Russian bomber from WWII is perk-worthy for the game.
Pe-2 is similar to Mosquito and Bf-110's.  Tu-2 is similar to JU-88's.  Pe-8 simply a 1936 four-engine design.  Nothing spectacular, and very limited production.  Saw nothing to rate the Yer-2 as a perk ride.

Any would be a welcome addition to Soviet plane set, which is so limited.  But not as perk rides.  Too many similar planes you can use for free now.

True. I just like the look of that Yer-2 and Tu-2.

IIRC, the original designs did, but they did an early engine redesign which removed the nacelle guns altogether, which is how most models were fielded for operations.
