Can Anolog Rudder pedals be converted to USB?

The above worked for me with regular analog CH pedals and an oooldd analog Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital stick.

The stick is hooked up through the sound card game port and the pedals are plugged into a usb port via the adaptor.

I plugged a second stick into the pedals to calibrate in windows then removed it.

In Ah, you set up and calibrate the stick as normal, then in the drop-down stick menu, you set up and calibrate the pedals as a Z-axis and save.

The only problem I've had is having to calibrate the pedals often when I log in.  They are usually locked over to one side my first flight and sometimes just "preflighting" them will solve this.  Step on each pedal to make sure they're working.  Other times, when re-calibration is necessary, I will not get full deflection in one direction.

Here   is a way to convert gameport pedals to usb for less than $10.  Works great.  You just have to be able to do some simple soldering and wiring.  Those gameport-usb converter boxes basically work but my experience with them has not been that great.  The tend to be pretty flaky.   This method is rock solid.

I would suggest that Homeboy has the best option because using a cheap , even s/h USB stick, it is going to give you toe brakes as well as rudder on the old analogue pedals.

Actually this is something I will do to my old CH analogue pedals as it is such a simple conversion. It will come in handy when my Lad wants to "learn to fly" !

how come its cheaper then 15$ converter???

require old usb stick, if you have it
what if not?
require like 2-3 hours of labor if you know what you doing
what if not?

all what i had to do with converter was turn switch to correct position , calibrate it under windows and AH, 10 minutes maximum, no skill needed

I doubt it. Too much integrated into the circuit boards I think. At least an old stick is likely to have hard wired Pots like your pedals, making rewiring a much clearer affair.

A converter will not let you use the pedals as brakes (If CH analogue type). They are usually hard wired to switch for either Rudder use or Rocker for cars (with wedges to prevent pedals sliding away!). An old stick at $10 is the main cost and has all the electronics you need. although you may have to invest in some wire if you don't have any!

I have non-Pro pedals, so there's no toe brakes anyway.  But, the conversion is cool and, even if you e-bayed it, probably a lot cheaper than new usb pedals.

Had a nice game port CH set for a few years until I switch to XP. Then it didn't work right after that. So I went out and got a new Saitek X52 love it but for one thing. Hate the twist stick. So I looked for months to try to get my CH pedals to work, nothing until I found a message in here about using the radio shack gameport to USB converter. Went and paid the $14.00 and within 10 minutes I had ruddle pedals. Best $14 that I've spent in a long time. Its very simple to install and setup in XP's game control setup.
