Since 1.04 I've been getting desktop dumps when hosting H2H games. This never happened in 1.03, not even once. DISCO yes, but never a dump. It doesn't matter if I'm near a field w/heavy smoke and clouds or out in the open. Between 5 and 30 minutes after hosting a game it crashes.
Checked the possibility of a heat issue with my vid card. It gets hot, but not that hot. Cooling isn't a problem since the room the comp is in stays fairly cold. I've got a large enough power supply, and nothing is sharing an IRQ.
One thing I did notice is that it only happens when I get join lag. If someone joins up I get the normal 5-7 seconds of screen freeze. Only then will it crash. Could be a modem problem [not surprised there] or maybe something else. I don't know. I've hosted 3-4 hour H2H games with 1.03 and never had a problem.
Wonder if this is an extention of the host join lag thing.
System specs:
P 200
32 megs SDRAM
Creative 3D Blaster Banshee w/16 megs SDRAM onboard
Dx 6.1
Before you say my system is out of date, I already know that. Pyro told me in an e-mail that he uses 6.1 without any problems. Dx 7a is good to have, but not required [yet]. If my vid card liked Dx 7a, I'd run it. My modem could be the culprit since it's a winmodem [yech].
Any ideas?
