Looks live nvidia will make a 8600 series AGP card , so much for AGP is dead 8)

I understand the "incorporating the newest and greatest" technology into systems and all, but I still don't quite understand the push for PCIe.

AGP, even with the newest card on the market, still isn't used to its fullest potential.. I guess maybe I don't know enough about the PCIe architecture to fully understand...

PCIe is cheaper to implement for the motherboard manufacturer's.  Same reason SATA got its push.

Serial interfaces are always cheaper and easier to build than parallel interfaces.
