Author Topic: Nvidia Quadro Fx2500m - Help!?!?!? (Read 1989 times)

Anyone -

I have a Dell M90 Notebook with a NVIDA QUADRO FX2500M (512MB) graphics card.

I cannot get AHII to run with it - at any resolution. It looks like a paper is spinning around on the clipboard before starting.

I have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed - any ideas?

PLEASE help.....

It sounds like you have a dual core AMD CPU. In which case you need to install the dual core AMD CPU dual core optimizer patch. It is on AMD's WEB site, or you can find the link in the "Hardware and Software" forum of our board, in a sticky post at the top of that forum.

shure he has a duel core amd ?? i thought those m90's were intel based ....

how about a Dxdiag ... 1st 1/3rd of it will do .

The M90 has an Intel T7600 Core 2 CPU (2.33GHz) w/ 2GB RAM

It (The T7600) shows as 2 CPU's

Direct X Diagnostics passed with no problems, running Direct X 9.0c.

Interesting note: I have the latest Quadro FX 2500M drivers available from DELL. The latest Quadro drivers from NVIDIA display a warning that they can't find any matching hardware wehn installed - and exit the install. I reloaded the Dell driver just in case the Nvidia attempt scrogged anything.

Another interesting note: I can get to the map room (sometimes) - and my video settings show: VidMem 516.2M Used 24.5M Cnt=1 (It's frozen at this point)

Any help is much appreciated!

The Quadro cards are not meant to be used for DirectX games. Those cards are designed as workstation cards which utilize OpenGL.

I am not sure NVidia actually pays much attention to getting DirectX to run on those cards.

I didn't even catch the M90. I need more sleep. The spiing clipboard is due the high frequency clocks not being handled correctly by the operating system, but I have never seen this problem with an Intel CPU (as long as all the INF drivers are installed for the chipset).

It may be the video card because my HP dv2000t with Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz), 1 Gig RAM, and 128 meg 7200 Go video card works just fine. I got a solid 60 fps offline attacking drones with AH sliders maxed, 512 textures @ 1024x768. Play was smooth with no stutters and graphics were great with all instruments clearly readable. In my case, I guess the Conroe type processor makes up for the low end video card.

Yep - I understand that the Quadro cards aren't meant for gaming - but this is what my job gave me for travel - and I'll going to try to keep the thread alive for some help. I used to have a Dell M70 - which also had a Quadro, and I was able to use it to play AHII.

My gut is telling me that it's the NVIDIA drivers - but I haven't actually put another game on the laptop. Does anyone have a recommendation of another game that uses the same graphics instruction set as AHII - maybe I could baseline off of that? I have Flight Sim X, Call of Duty 2, Falcon 4.0 Allied Force - any of those use the same? (I haven't installed them)

Anyway - I just reloaded the Dell-provided chipset drivers as my latest shotgun troubleshooting method - with no luck.

I still find it really odd that Nvidia's latest Quadro drivers (at the Nvidia site) do not detect the hardware during install - and the programs ends.

I really want to play AHII when I travel!!!!!

Running program in Windows 98 compatibility mode WORKS!!!

I have a feeling this doesn't use any of the INTEL-based Dual Core features of my processor.. anything in the works? AMD support seems to be great in this forum. Haven't seen any INTEL Dual-core support.

Out of the box the Intel Core Duo CPU;s just work. The only ones I have come across which acted like yours were ones using older INF dchipset drivers. AMD had a lof of problems early on, with thier dual core CPU's, but they have worked it all out now.

Yes, running the game in Win98 compatilibilty mode makes it run on one CPU.

When it comes to multi-CPU support, it is not in the control of the applpication. Aces High II happens to be natively multi-threaded, and is one of the few games which is.

My home computer happens to have a Core 2 Duo CPU in it and I have absolutely no troubles at all with Aces High II on it.

Alot of us are still on AMD's ... the Duo core intels are still new ... there support comes as we learn them and run across problems.

I'll stay on my quest to figure it out... I'd love to get the performance benefits of the dual-core. I haven't tried installing the latest chipset drivers from Intel - just from Dell (not sure if Dell is behind - I imagine they are)- I'll give that a try next...

For anyone reading this - take note that the new Nvidia Forceware drivers DO NOT support the Quadro FX2500M - might want to skip it for the 3500... no explanation why it isn't supported (yet).

For future reference for those who are searching for info on the Quadro cards. I thought I would add that my quadro card (fx 1300) doesn't do too bad. It's kind of small memory wise (128mb), but I get great frame rates (35 on ground, 45-75 in the air). According to the NVIDIA site it does support direct3d (directx)

Specs:
I am running 512 res, with sliders maxed, textures preloaded, all the good stuff turned on, but no animated water (ouch...too much)
