Japanese movie coming out in May about a group of young Japanese drafted and selected to become Kamikaze pilots. From the trailers, it looks like it's a tear jerker and has some really cool CGI aerial combat sequences.
It's based on the stories of this woman that ran a restaurant near a base where Kamikaze pilots were trained and she eventually became a mother figure to these pilots.
It's going to be interesting to see how the film portrays these kamikaze pilots. One one hand, the conservative far-right nationalist venerate the kamikaze as matyrs while the liberals see them as brain washed young men forced to die for their country. Then there is our perception of the kamikaze as being a fanatic.
