joystick setup
« on: March 17, 2007, 04:56:54 PM »
I just bought the saitek evo force, and I'm wondering what the best config would be with the stick and keyboard. I would also like to schedule a training session, any ideas on how to do this.

besides primary and secondary fire I like--
flaps up *critical
flaps down *critical
wep
gunsight zoom toggle
zoom in
zoom out
select enemy target (puts a little square around chosen enemy icon so you can keep track of you current target)
dive flaps

Its more a matter of what you're comfortable with.

FBplmmr hit it right on the nose as far as criticality in my opinion.

For real expert help go to the
Trainers Website or http://www.netaces.org.

good luck :aok

good placement allows you to have control of flaps wep  throttle  all with one hand so other can control pitch yaw and roll

left hand- my fingers are workin flaps an wep while my thumb is workin trottle

right hand is stick with thumb workin views  dive flaps (if equipped) select target

primary and secondary fire

i use a cheap stick so i have to constantly recalibrate ... best of luck to you =)

Critical in that order:

Look up (button that you can press at the same time as using your hatswitch, to combine views!)
Fire Primary
Fire Secondary
Flaps Down
Flaps Up
WEP
Gun Zoom Toggle

Good to have:

Talk buttons (Range and/or Tunable)
Combat Trim (if you do not fly with autocombat trim)
Check6
(Select engine - if you fly multiengined planes a lot and control engines separatly)

Nice to have:

Clipboard Toggle
Chat Window Size
Gear Toggle
Engine toggle
Autopilots
.......

As far as the "Good to have" and "Nice to have" is concerned, thats somewhat personal preference. Watch yourself while playing, map the functions that you use in battle the most.

a different way to do views --
i map a button to switch to  switch to mode 2
mode 2 is duplicate of mode 1 except  views are the up views and
the mode button switches back to mode 1

frees that finger from holding down the up button
