Funny thing about the "medical marijuana" case that the Supremes upheld for the government using interstate commerce.... it was primarily the liberal judges that took the government's side and upheld the ruling. Only Justices Sandra Day O'Connor, William Rehnquist and Clarence Thomas dissented in the 6-3 ruling.

The mexican government makes too much money off of the drug trade, the U.S. govermnent will never do anything to harm the mexican government by making drugs legal.

My "conspiracy theory" is that there are too many government employees earning a living off of drug busts (DEA, FBI, etc.) therefore it will never be legalized due to the government layoffs that would occur.

Never mind the property/money seizures that come along with drug busts.

Since much of the urban gang culture is funded by drug money, I wonder what the reaction of the gangs would be to the legalization of drugs.

What would be their response to mom-and-pop businesses springing up to sell legalized drugs, thus cutting into their source of revenue?

Would they take it lieing down?

it would be pretty funny to see the drug dealers paying off the politicians to keep it illegal...oh wait, that probably already happens.
this thread is doomed.
