WOH,

Baught a bottle of this the other day and I have to say I hate it.  I'm gonna finish the bottle but for all you Capt. Lovers out there that are wondering what this bottle differs from the rest.  It seems to me like it has a hint of black licorice to it.  As if somone mixed regulare Capt Morgan's with yeager.

It is not good don't buy it.

However for all the rest of you that are into cheap but decent spiced rum.  The Capt "private stock" is some pretty good stuff for only a few bucks more.

if you like rum I suggest a bottle of pampero añejo, easily the smoothest rum.  it's almost a shame to use in with mixed drinks.  there is also brugal añejo which is a very good rum from the dominican republic.  also from the dominican republic is barceló añejo.  añejo means aged, typically the rum is aged in oak casks for a lengthy period of time allowing the spirit to age and mellow producing a very pleasant distilled product which can be enjoyed neatly or on the rocks.  any añejo rum rivals the best bourbon whiskies for plain old sipping but pampero is in my opinion the best.

Captain Morgan's is good.  So is Mount Gay rum (and a staple of every sailor's diet).

However, as is my habit, my favorite rum isn't necessarily the more expensive one.  Not considering cost at all, the tastiest rum is Calico Jack Rum.
