I was at the first 'Gathering' in 1999 supporting 1 of the 67 Mustangs attending, this Gathering is something I doubt will happen again in my life time. I just purchased VIP tickets for my father, of the 150 or so Mustangs still flying in the world over 100 are already booked for this event.

I am in the flight path of most incoming aircraft to Rickenbacker when they use 23R. I haven't decided to buy tickets or sit in the yard.

You'll surely see the planes sitting in your yard but its the group of pilots that'd I'd like to hear and see and meet. Those planes have many years left in them, those guys don't.

That looks sweet, though I wonder how many types that were actually relevant to the war will show.

You know, like the Hurricane, Spitfire, Wildcat and P40? Well the P47, Hellcat and F4U As well.

I booked a room for my father at a Best Western on the North side of town, the event has 50 rooms reserved for $74.00 a night but I booked it through Hotwire who had it listed as a 3 star for $59.00 a night.
