A-26 Invader Lobbying Thread
« on: March 28, 2007, 06:31:55 PM »
Why the Invader?

A Late War High Performance Medium Bomber/Attack Plane.

Fighter pilots already have several options to spend perk points on.
Betting the new Firefly will come with a cost to GV'rs.
Buff drivers only have the Arado as a reward for buff perks.

Up to 14 forward firing .50 cals with 400 rpg on B-model Invader. Even fighter pilots might find that much firepower fun to play with.

Up to 14 - 5 inch rockets could be carried by an Invader.

Up to 6,000 pounds of ordnance could be carried by the Invader.

Comes in to version: B-model attack plane, and C-model level bomber/pathfinder.

Top speed of up to 355 mph at 15,000 feet possible with invaders.

It's a better, later, faster, more maneuverable version of an A-20 or B-26.

It's a better, faster, more heavily armed penetration bomber than the Ki-67.

It's a great attack plane in ground defense role.

Long, detailed thread about the Invader, with specs and pics, and various load outs available can be found here:

Pics of the Invader being added to FS9 and FSX can be found here:

No I don't.

Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

If only because whoever restored that A26 had the nerve to put invasion stripes on it when they weren't there on D-Day!

A20s?  You bet.  Not A26s :)

Whoa, tough crowd.

Yeah, not sure why the owner of that plane has invasion stripes on it.  The rest looks to be modeled after the 10th Recon or 554th or 386th  out of France during late '45.  Seen several pics of that plane in flight, and I think it's still airworthy these days, but figured enough people would have corrected the guy by now.

Plenty of other skins that could be put onto a Douglas A-26 Invader though.

Me, I still want a buff to spend perk points on.
This would be a fun plane to have to:
* hunt GV's.  Rockets, bombs, and guns....oh my!
* Hunt bombers.  14 - .50's + 400 rpg + 355 mph top speed = shredded Lancs
* Run penetration raids against ord and dar.  Ki-67 is good at this.... A-26 be better.
* Kill towns.....and vulch
* Deack fields.....and vulch
* Kill CV's.
* HO anyone stoopid enough to come at me from dead ahead.  14 - .50 cals. Mmmmm.  Like a WWII version of an A-10 Warthog.  Burrrrrrppp....booom....

Plus, easy enough to provide both the solid gun nose B model for attack role and glass nosed, norden bombsite, C model for level bombing pilots.  Two planes for the programing effort of one.

Don't worry tedrbr ( I always want to say "teddybear", I don't know why...), I voted for the A-26.

But you realize that there's already an A-26 lobby thread?

Nope... missed it.... guess I did not go back far enough when I started this.  My bad.   I'm way behind on my forum traffic.  Been away.
