Every time I go to a hockey game - my team loses
I prefer not to watch games on TV too, maybe I have a "bad eye", during RU/FI game I switched on my TV right after Markin scored a goal, and then - you know
The only game in several years that I watched (last two periods) and we won was the Russia-Canada game at the Olympics, it was so tense that I had to eat validol...
Speaking of youth championships - do you remember that USSR/Canada game in 1987 (IIRC) when they ended in a huge fistfight, police (!!!) came and switched off the light? Both teams were disqualified for a year. Bure, Zhamnov and other future stars were in Soviet team there.
Agh yes, the Fight. Be sure I remember. It was the referee's fault. He let the Russians get away with the cheap shots, like ankle hacking. When they got to the NHL, this stopped or at least subsidded, after being pummeled a few times. In 'the old days' the Europian refs called the game like Women's hockey. No disrespect towards women, just they have no body contact in their game.
There was other games besides the ones your team played in.
I know the feeling as my team is in the Stanley Cup semi finals. They have a reputation as chokers. Tonight will tell, as they are up 2-0 in the series against the Sabres and the next 2 games are at home. They are both in the same conference, so have played each other many times during regular season and in play-offs. Sabres usually come out on top.
The last time they won Lord Stanley's Cup was in 1932/33 and 1933/34. The next year they went to St Louis, played one year and then folded. In 1991 they came back to Ottawa as a expansion team.
