Wind can cause several bad side effects, bombs fail to explode, bombs explode but do no damage, the bombsight floats in mid-air.
Reproduce:
Terrain – any will do, I used Baltic A9
Default arena settings
Uncheck Protect Objects
Lazer guided bomb sight or
Training bombsight so you don’t miss
Set wind for 126 mph, NE to SW – doesn’t matter
Manual take-off
Up a bomber, no formations
Climb above bomb arming height
Drop on a hanger
If all is normal the first time, repeat
Usually the bombsight will not remain in mid-air but it happens enough to be noteworthy.
If you drop a bomb or two before releasing the main salvo on target, you may or may not see bomb explosions. Sometimes I kick in a 30-50 mph updraft which seemingly modifies the results somewhat.
As I’ve done a lot of weapon testing for events, this has shown up for more then a year but I thought I’d reported it before.
