How about a functional rear view mirror. Most WWII fighter planes had some way to view what was behind them. A mirror in the top middle of the cockpit.
I have heard it will use to much graphics.....It will bog down the system. I'm just talking something functional. I don't think we need to see the whites of there eye's just something to give some small detail.

Well just something to ponder. Thanks:D

AH had mirrors in their planes in the past but it was found that most of the pilots would get  a bad case of male vanity and they could not dogfight.

The wingspan of a Bf109E in the mirror of a Spitfire and in firing range was about the same as this:

_

It wasn't very useful.

It's been said multiple times that adding a mirror that 1) You can't see very much anyway due to vibrations 2) the level of detail of a mirror being able to provide even a moderately useful tool would annihilate the best frame rates not to mention people who already have low frame rates.  Search "mirror" I'm sure you'll find official posts from HTC on the matter.

AW did not have a 3d cockpit to look around. the mirror view was the rear view reversed and enclosed in a mirror rim. (as per the Spit)

In AH a mirror would have to be modelled fully. Containing a reflected  view  that could be seen from the head position of the player and zoomed into to be of any use.

previous debates have considered such an addition

a huge diversion of HTC resources
a frame rate killer
and virtually useless with the present view system (although stuff like trak ir could be reducing the latter arguement.)

Well I see there are a few folks that are :noid about the mirror for one reason or another so....Set it up on a dot command to show or leave off. Or put it in the Hi res pack. Or both. I have 0 problems with frame rates & would like to see it. I could lose 1/2 my FR & still be just under 100 fps. I know there are allot of other folks in the same situation. I think it would cut down on the vulchers that just wait for you to turn on an enemy plane go for the kill then  your dead.

Remeber guys it's just an idea.... Don't get all  :furious :cry about it:rofl  I remember when it used to be there. It was some what functional. I would just like to see it as an option. Thanks :aok
