B-25 Reference Pictures / Drawings thread
« on: April 09, 2007, 11:52:03 AM »
Time to start collecting reference material for the b-25 build. I know the community has a lot of aviation buffs, so I'd figure I'd ask for some help. If you have any good pictures / diagrams of the b-25 ( any variant) post them here or links to the pics.  As to the specifics, high res detail pics of internal structures, ect as well as close ups of various components are useful. Especially cockpit and other station areas.

Thanks for the help!

I frequent the Sim-Outhouse, which to my knowledge has never done a Mitchell, but IIRC the folks over at SimViation did for MS CFS.  They have forums, and if they are anything like Sim-Outhouse, they put together as much of the original specs and information as they could before creating the model.

You might check with them to see what they have.

A quick check showed MAAM-SIM also had a B-25J project a few years ago for FS community.  http://www.maam.org/  You may be able to track down some info through them as well.

Also http://www.nazcastudios.com/gaming.htm  did 3 repaints for FS B-25D (2 RAF, 1 USAAF) model.

I have a buddy of mine that has an ORIGINAL B-25J operator and maintence manual. Printed in 1944. Tons of info in that book. I can ask and see if he might be willing to have it copied at Kinkos or something or maybe loan it to you guys for a period of time. I have some copies of info out of that book.

Is anyone aware that the B-25 was capable of carrying a torpedo? I have that information right out of the manual.

Scroll past all the funny looking letters to the four links at the bottom of the page.  Some fairly decent drawings with a bit of detail tossed in.

The funny looking letters are informative also, by the way.

Was the top turret a martin upper?  If so I have an original copy of the gunners book from WWII with all the turret drawings in it.

Quite a few cockpit images

This machine is in Addison; you should talk Doug into a company sponsored field trip.  I'm sure the museum would let you crawl all over to get whatever detail pics you need.  Supposidly it is as close to original as you can get without getting shot at.
