Just shows there are more bomber pilots in game than we thought there were.

Actually I thought the whole vote thing was a great idea. My first choice got cut early, my second choice got cut in the final vote. However the whole experiance was a blast. I hope they do this again one day.
to your Father Toad, and Waffle. Eskimo to your Father in Law as well.
If nothing else this vote had us all thinking about some of the men who actually flew these machines and we're all lucky to still have some of them in our midst.

I too was in momentary shock when I checked the website and found out.

IMO, it was certainly the name recognition factor among the players who are not WWII aviation experts. If you didn't know either plane very well and read the wikipedia link for these two, well lets just say the outcome is now a no-brainer. For instance: Line two of the P-39 Wikipedia page says "handicapped", whereas on the B-25 page the first thing you read is "used with devastating effect".

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of guys that know the Mitchell and wanted it without reading up on it and their reasons are sound, but I'd be willing to bet that the bulk of the folks that voted for the P39 are more well read on the subject of aviation. I'd be willing to bet the time logged on a per user basis in AH for the P39 voters is higher than the B-25 voters. I'd also be willing to bet that their $14.95 still only bought 1 vote nonetheless.

Having said that, the vote was a nice gesture and much appreciated. I look forward to my Mitchell test drive :) Here's to HTC putting the P-39 and A-26 next on the list:aok

Thanks guys, it will come.

Meanwhile the B-25 is a very cool plane and will be used well and often.

That's cool too. I wonder just how many guys we have in here that have Fathers, and grandfathers that flew in WWII. It would be cool to get everyone to post their history.

Au contraire, monsieur.  The fact that these two planes were the finalists - and almost equal in the last vote - shows that history is still alive in AH.  As many have pointed out, neither plane is as good in its class as other planes we already have.  (Had the 39 won, we would have heard the same "hangar queen" comments from the 25 afficionados.)  The distinction these planes held over ALL of the other contenders is their widespread use during WWII.

I was in favor of the 39, but only because I don't fly bombers.  If any other plane was going to win, I'm glad it was the 25.  The mid-war people, and possibly the early-war people, are now going to have something besides Ju-88s and Bostons to fly.  The SEA people and the AvA people are already talking about strafing and skip-bombing ships, and parafrags are probably a short step behind.  Even the late-war crowd is anticipating a 75mm option with which to shoot up hangars during their wars of conquest.  There's something for everyone in the B-25.  And best of all, it ties you in with a big part of history, in a way that G55s and Do335s could never do.

Since the P39 and the B25 did so well comparatively, perhaps HTC will reward their loyal customer base by providing both planes in the same update.

When My Dad, (WWII B25 Driver), saw that I was flying in AH, he asked. "Where's the B25?" Told him it wasn't in the game and he more or less said that it sucked it wasn't.

Told him today that the B25 was voted in and now he's going to come into the game.

Now, depending on how accurately they program the flight characteristics in the game, (I realize there is a lot that affects how close it will be to the real thing) and based on some stories he has told me..........

We are all in trouble when he shows up.
