Bombers and the re-arm pad
« on: April 07, 2007, 02:23:34 PM »
Maybe someone can answer these questions relative to bombers.  While I'd probably never do this I'm just curious.

1.  Will a heavy bomber fit on the re-arm pad?
2.  If so, will it actually re-fuel and re-arm?
3.  If so, when you take off, will the drones re-up as well?
4.  If not, will the drones count as succesful landings from the first run?
5.  If so, will their points remain and only the single bomber count on the second run?

Like I said, I'd probably never do this but I was just curious.

1:yes
2:yes
3:no
4:IIRC sometimes thay just sit on the runway till you get back if you don't go too far. But they are vulch bait. If you go past a neer GV spaw then I think they go away. Not sure if it's a death, ditch or land.
5:It's all one run. The points stay but the drones sorties may end abruptly.

It is hard, you have to be taxiing fast enough for the drones to stay moving. and then have them turn the way you will be taking off. Then rearm and take off

One funny thing that happened to me last night.. I was upping some lancs...

I wasn't going to clear the hill, so at full flaps I dropped the gear trying to "bounce" off the hillside.. and it worked!

Except when I finally gained some ALT I realized I lost one of my drones.. I assumed it crashed into a tree or something.

Later on that mission both my drone and I were shot down but instead of returning to tower.. instead I arrived in the SECOND drone.. sitting in the middle of a field... on a hillside.. near the base I took off from.  It must have landed when I hit the hillside with my gear down and waited patiently for me to re-occupy it.

Moral of the story?  Well I'm sure it has something to do with sheep and farmland... but I can't quite put my finger on it.
