On my old computer
AMD Athalon 2000+ 1.66Ghz
GeForce 5200 128Mb AGP 4X
1 Gb RAM 333Mhz (1 1Gb 400Mhz Dual Channel , 1 512MB 333Mhz)(MoBo doesnt support DC)
Res:1280x1024
Tex:1024 + hires (preloaded everything)
Detail: around 50%
everything else maxed and i got a constant 30FPS and a max of around 52FPS
(last played in the 2.07 patch thou)
if you have atleast 1Gb of ram, id say go to 1024 w/ hires, as Krusty said, if you dont see a difference between 512 and 1024 textures, youve gotta be blind.
TexInVa you can turn up all the quality if you turn VSync on, it will limit the in game FPS to the Refresh rate of your monitor, and since its a 19' LCD use 1280x960 or 1280x768, i used to play on a 19' LCD w/ my old computer (now which is my prnts) and i could see the guages and everything else

I got the vsync thing figured out. Thnx.

The LCD is a 19" widescreen. The native resolution is 1440x900. The further I move away from that, the worse my screen looks. And the further I move away from the dimensions, the more the screen looks "squished". I find it god-awful horrid. Which means I learn to live with what I have. I've gotten one of my hat switches mapped to look down at the gauges.

well if it is hard to look at then try another smaller resolution as i recommended, it wont hurt to try

Is 1024x768 what most people run?  I'm cranked up to 1600x1200 on my 20" LCD.

Maybe that's why my 7900GTX has issues now and then.

I have a Athlon 64 3200+, 512MB system RAM, a 7600GS AGP 512MB, and I run 1024x768 with high res and sliders all the way up and still get 90+ steady FR.

Why only 1024x768 when you can run 1280x1024?  1280  looks  MUCH better than 1024

the proformance depends on ur comp, not the native resolution, the native resoultion is just whenit looks best on the monitor, also AH was made to run on 1280x1024, if u have a 4:3 ratio monitor 1280 looks best unless its larger than 19' (not too sure thou)

I've tried all of the resolutions you mentioned, Nemeth, and all I can say is that OZZ662 is right. I get the best performance from my monitor at native resolution. The further away from native I set the resolution, the worse the screen looks.

No worries. I have a button mapped to look down on my gauges.

Have you tried 1280x768 (not 960)? (cant remember if i suggested it)  it is one step below the native resolution and it shouldnt look "squished" on ur monitor
