I'm experiencing the same thing in a panzer since the new patch. One or two rounds at a time.
Flying since tour 84

This is great.
now we need a .burst command for the Ai gunners.

and a .gvtarget command.

Like .gvtarget tiger 800 "command/object/range"
range is important otherwise it could* lock a target at 3k out :P

.burst 5
.burstdelay 0.7

I'm getting 'ping' sounds from random directions - but these aren't my pintle firing - the ammo stays the same.

I hear it in air too.  Seems to be related to the hat switch in the Spit IX.

??? I hear it in a Sherman. I don't have a hat switch either.

This is a problem in the Panzer IV as well.  Every once in a while (about every 20 seconds or so?  It varies a bit), I hear a round or two fire from my machine gun.  This happens regardless of what position I am in (driving, main gun, or MG).

I also hear this couple-round firing happening when I fly over the battlefield close to the ground.  So, I am hearing it coming from tanks when I am not in them, too -- it's not just my own tank in which I hear this.

I hear the same thing with no action on my part and no firing of any of my guns.  In TT, where there are lots of rounds flying around, I have correlated the sound with enemy shells passing over and landing nearby, i.e. I'll get that 2 shot MG burst sound and then a tank round will land nearby with a boom.  I think the sound is supposed to be the scream of shells flying overhead (which would be cool) but that the wave file wasn't updated properly or something or it points to the MG sound instead of a brief bomb falling sound?
