Americans (such as myself) have a tough time with proper english. I love it when I pi$$ someone off  it only means im doing my job. I hated that word in the crotch..(u.s.m.c.) for those that dont know where the crotch is, so I use it 30 yrs later, i been out long enough it no longer bothers me, so it would behoove you, not to get too froggy, or ill shoot you down again. as you were.

There's always been a problem with the M-3's & M-16's being able to absorb hit after hit from any tank. I think it was explained once that it was modeled that way to emulate AP rounds zipping through the skin of the vehicle & doing nothing but punching a hole in it; but I found HE did the same thing & it didn't matter where your round impacted either....cab or rear.

As far as the FF armor & the German 88; it was a first shot kill scenario if the Sherman found itself in a Tigers sights from any angle & at just about any range  whereas the 17-pounder of the FF had trouble at range with the Tigers front glacis. It was after all basically a 76mm & the Sherman was being fitted with a new turret (can't remember what it was called) that employed a 76mm high velocity gun (HV ammunition to be more precise). The comments I had read said that the crews of the Shermans were screaming bloody murder for more of the 76mm HV ammo because it was a big improvement & it was in very short supply.

There is no doubt the 17-pndr could kill a Tiger, but it was not the end all weapon to match the German 88 by any stretch...I could be mistaken (probably am) but I think the up-gunned late model T-34's had a better shot/kill ratio. Maybe if HTC looked into adding in a perked High Velocity ammo package for the T-34 & FF, thus making them low range perk vehicles, it might enable them to leave the Tiger as strong as it ever was & have a counter for it in the game that doesn't require another Tiger to be rolled out.

I was looking forward to some good GV battles; I even brought my own cheese to go with the vintage whine.

Either the Tiger was weekened or the shells from all the other tanks were beefed up! I spend a lot of time in Tigers and I know it isn't taking the hits it used to. I was killed by a panzer with 1 shot from over 1600 the other day and I had no previous hits on me it was fresh out of the hanger.

Also I have noticed trying to range anything is completely different. I can't put my finger on it but it seems to have something to do with the sights maybe? Or maybe the terrain? Like I said, I can't quite put my finger on it.

Less detail on the ground has made it harder for me to range tanks to.

Already read that. But it's not specific as to which tanks and how much was taken away/given to each model. So posting that link answers nothing other than they made some changes to the tanks which we are already painfully aware of.

yup thats the one he was looking for. the Sherman FireFly has a 17in turret on it witch in this case is 76MM HVap rounds this also means if close range battle went on with a sherman and a tiger a sherman can kill the tiger in one shot yes thats realistic. T-34s got their most popular rounds now the HVAP rounds and they can kill a tiger in two to three hits. the tigers steal did not get weaker the other tanks just got better ammo now so tigers can no longer over rule one country when eny is at 5

Personally I would love to see Tanks taken out of the game...

this is Aces High, after all, not Tank Wars.

...sorry had to say it.  It's been depressing to watch the knits have numbers advantage for the majority of the weekend and still get pummeled so badly (we have alot of hardy GV-lovers).

I have no problem with ppl playing they way they play, I just think a fighter sim is not a great place for tanks....although TT is fun every now and then for a sortie or two.

The Firefly has a 3 inch gun, you're thinking 17 pounder. And yes, in close range combat the Firefly could penetrate the Tiger; close range being anything out to 1,000 yards.

But basically yes that's what I was referring to, the high velocity armor piercing ammunition was the Tiger's worst enemy until the 90MM gun came out on the Pershing. It was capable of knocking out King Tigers. But the Firefly had no more armor than any other M-4; it was the Jumbo that had added armor & even that extra four or five inches was like butter to the German 88.

Edit: I should make a note that I didn't know how many inches the 17 pounder was - I was going by what the in game identification is but the 17 pounder used by the Firefly was 76MM give or take which translates to 2.9921 inches. A 17inch gun would put the Firefly past the Iowa class lol
