Laying down a barrage of smoke around your vehicle has no effect when looking through the main gun zoomed in. View remains clear as day.

It's like your zoom takes you past the smoke so the smoke is effectively behind your current view.

This has been a really popular trick for a while now amongst the campers.

Yep.  You can shoot a smoke round close to your own vehicle (within, say, 500 yards).  If you look through the smoke and increase your zoom, the smoke will go away in your view, allowing you to see though it as if it weren't there.

However, someone looking at you from farther away (a several thousand yards or greater, say), will not be able to see through the smoke.

Thus, you can pop off a smoke round near you, see through it to fire upon your enemies while they cannot see through it to hit you.
