I have been having trouble with my joystick lately:cry . A message comes up and says don't move your controls to rapidly when I barely move it at all. I know that I have to caliberate it to fix the problem and I've done that tons of times and then the controls work for like 5-6 minutes or less then the same problem starts up again... dont move your controls to rapidly:huh . I'm not sure if my joystick is a piece of crap or that it is fixable. Can you help me out here?

Sounds like a piece of crap, but you might be fine again if you add some more deadband.

Go to Options/Controllers/Map Controllers and check the "Advanced" box to adjust it.

Are you using a logitek????

I had a problem with mine ( which was quite old) that it failed to hold calibration for any period of time..

Replaced to Siatek and have had no further problems. You can get a functional stick cheaply for $20-$25..

I believe its the ST290 Pro at this price..

For the dedicated sim pilot this is where the investment in top gear like CH really pays back. High initial outlay but years and years of good service afterwards makes them cheaper long term than the cheapest and yet you have the quality all the time!

I have never had a CH bit of kit wear out, my gameport stuff became outdated with XP and USB thats all!

Just think about how keen you are on flight sims and invest accordingly if you can.

Try joystick scaling. If you reduce the sensitivity at the center of the stick you may have better control, and less messages about moving your stick to fast.

Test the output of the stick to see if your pots are spiking. These are sharp jumps in the output as you move the stick. You can reduce this by adding some dampening. Just add enough until you no longer get these messages.

Calibrate in Windows first - then in game.
