Just a salute
« on: April 24, 2007, 04:30:25 PM »
I have a sort of different veiw on things as most know. Lemmie just say this on the record, every single man or waman that has been  sent to the middle east Is a g-d hero, matters not how or what,,, mr tillman was a hero, as every single man or woman who has been there is. who needs a dang "attaboy" medal anyways. I needed to say that.

Hate the war, hate the location, hate the politicians, but still retain a profound respect for the men and women who are able to put such faith in their country/principles/sense of duty/government that they will take up arms and serve. The media are always looking for something news-worthy, and I think more evil is done in the names of making the news, or avoiding making the news, than would otherwise occur.

AGREED.....Good post

A big to all who wear a uniform with a U.S. flag on the sleeve.  Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Guardsmen, Police Officers, and the like.
They are out there putting their lives on the line, sleeping in the dirt, so that we can sleep safely in our pillowtop beds with down comforters.  I'd say that they deserve a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for all that they do!

Pat Tillman would be a hero even if he would have never seen a bit of combat. Just the fact he gave up millions of dollars to serve his country qualifies him as such in my book. I wouldn't care if he was a generals secretary stationed stateside.

All these kids these days that look up to overpaid, wife beater athletes and movie stars and consider them "heros" are a damn shame. Most of them couldn't even tell you where Iraq or Afghanistan was on a globe. It makes me sick! I have an 11year old daughter and I help her with her history homework often because I want her to know exactly why we are able to live in the best country in the world. It gives me great pride when she asks me something like "hey dad who was admiral "bull" halsey?" Moments like that make me believe I'm doing something right bringing her up."Those who don't know their history are condemned to repeat it."

How about CNN, msnbc, and fox news show a little less Anna nicole-who gives a chit, and american idol interviews, or who got voted off survivor crap and a talk a little more about our men and women in uniform.

Anyway, sorry to get off on a rant here.
