I tried reinstalling and everything... it seems I am stuck with this bug... when I enter the eb6 type screen pops up and spins around and around... upon entering an arena the game crashes... was not doing this before?

Are you running AMD dual core?

I believe that is a symptom of a AMD user who hasn't installed the dual core patch from AMD.

I had the same problem after I installed Vista. I'm not specifically certain what fixed it as I:

Installed a dual-core update from AMD

Replaced the PSU and upgraded to a 550W
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I am running an amd dual core but I did a system restore (back one day) and it fixed it... I installed the dual core optimizer awhile back.

This happens to me too.  I even recorded a short clip of it, but seeing how common of a problem it seems to be, I guess I don't have to show it to people to have them believe me.

AMD dual core here as well.

Known issue with AMD dual core CPU's.  Installation of the dual-core optimizer from AMD will noramlly fix it for Windows XP.

The samr problem exists for Vista users and AMD dual-core CPU's.  However, AMD has not released the patch for Vista yet.

So to fix it for Vista, you need to right-click on the Aces High II start-up ICON, then select the "Compatibility" tab and set the game to run in "Windows 98/ME" compatibility mode.  This effectively forces the game to run on one core, but it solves the problem until AMD gets a fix out.

There is nothing we can do, short of a complete redesign of the game, to fix it.  The problem has to do with using high resolution timers in combination with being multi-threaded.

Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.

I had the spinning notebook problem and other lockups, and I had the the dual core optimiser patch installed. However specifying Unlimited FPS in AH (and VSYNCing in the GeForce driver) fixed the problem for me.

I get the occasional warping of others' aircrafts but I'm not sure if it's to do with the dual core or communication delays.
