Help with Rhinoceros (CAD/NURBS)
« on: April 25, 2007, 09:31:54 AM »
I'm pretty new to this program, but know most of the basics. However, I can't figure this out (though it's probably simple as hell).

I drew one shape, copied it, and scaled the copy down to make two shapes inside each other. I extruded the curves upwards into two surfaces. Now the question: I want to make the top of the shape connect to each of the curves in an arc shape. IE I want an arc cross-section on top of my solid instead of a flat surface.

I've tried enough things that I can't remember it all and decided that some of you guys must know something about it. Thanks in advance!

draw your arc curve joining the two tops of the surfaces, then use surface->sweep two rails using the edge curves at the top of both surfaces as the rails and the curve as the cross section.

Ah! I think I get it. I was trying to lay another curve above them in the same shape scaled in between and "throw" the surface over it (like setting up an army tent kinda thing).

I'll give it a shot. Thanks

That worked. Thanks again! I really can't understand any of their help files and tutorials. :D
