Ratfink: Yes, I noticed. I like that first one a lot better than the second. To me it's showcasing what draws us to this game. Sure a game can look like crap for years as long as the play is good (Half-Life was proof of that!) but this game don't look too shabby, neither! :salute

Yeah! Krusty hates these. :aok

As much as I like standard screen shots something like this would make excellent "wallpaper".  Just goes to show what can be achieved.  Would be nice to take an in game image / moment of a fight or pretty scene and Joice it up a bit.  I have only just started messing with photo shop the other day.  Really don't know what I'm doing just experimenting at the moment.

So USRanger.... without being to much of a pain could you kindly explain some of the processes you used to create the above shot.  No need for exact details.  Did you use layers ? What colours and filters.... and so on.  I know from standard screen shots a view with heavy light or sun in the back ground takes out any clarity.  Here you seem to have used the strong light to enhance the scene..... how or what did you use?

Thanks
Lynx

ps on page 36 I have some screenie I "tarted" up a bit.  Just messing about.

My first offering - Final Moments
« Reply #456 on: March 29, 2008, 02:25:56 PM »
This is my first public screen shot offering.  Minor work on the image to speckle, make black and white and add just a touch of motion blur.  The con in the image is moments away from losing his left wing which is why I call it "Final Moments".  It was a 109K4 and had been a pretty good fight.

Hope you enjoy.

Lynx, I use Photoshop CS3 Extended.  The 1st thing I did was up the contrast & lightness.  Dropped the saturation down.  Added a little gaussian blur.  Used a default filter(render->lighting effects) to get the lighting angle.  Then I used 2 free plugins I downloaded. One called Aetherize by Flaming Pear(part of a free plugin package) to change the sky color. And last, a plugin called Virtual Photographer by OptikVerve Labs(also free) to give it a certain "look".  It's got a bunch of sliders to mess will all kinds of stuff.  Whole process took about 5-10 minutes.  It was basically an experiment that came out nice.  All in all, I just downloaded as many free plugins as I could find and started playing with them.  I recommend it because there's a lot of neat free ones out there.
