A P-38 and I somehow miraculously ended up point blank range to each other. Luckily he was in front of my guns instead of vice versa. I don't think either one of us knew this would happen, and scared the crapp out of me (I thought he missed me and I dodged a bullet!)

<S> AAJaegerX, made a pretty "close encounter" screenshot set.

P.S. I couldn't tell at the time if he was in a death spiral or an evasive. I followed him down so as not to lose the target. Looking at film he had lost half his flaps and the other half was full down so I suspect he was done for. Hindsight is 20/20. I also had used the last of my 20mm to do that damage, and was trying to finish with 2x 7mm.

That Hamp is a fun one. I stole some time to try one out last night and got saddled up on a 38 - and shot lots of bits off him before my foolish venture into his airfield's flak finished me off. Needless to say, though, at low speed, a 38L has little chance of shaking you from his 6. Your situation was different but ended better. I was trying to close the deal with my peashooters too. They're not very effective on big bomber tin like a 38.

Well, I think he had better E than I did to begin with, but he pulled up, letting me close the gap. He was looking for a spit he started the fight with, I guess.

I have to confess, though, the first shot (with the smoking C2) was actually from a previous engagement with a totally different P-38. My bad! That's not part of the sequence :)

This C-47 pulled up so hard to avoid me, he left his wings behind.
He was still flying minutes later, so I humanely put him down.  :devil

This sortie was reminiscent of Apollo 13:

   Kills - 0
   Ailerons - 0
   Successful landing - priceless.

This P51 shot me up a bit then overshot, so close to a collision I got hit by shrapnel from my own 20mm.

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Long distance rocket vulch (2.5K). I don’t normally vulch but I was bored. Despite blowing off his wing, he was able to survive landing upside down. :huh

Fun fight between a 51 and myself while I was in a TBM.  :salute to BushLT and OBX for staying out. He was doing the whole B/Z, few moments of TnB and couple of Head-On shots. I was lucky enough to conserve my E enough to get hits on him while in climbs. The whole fight lasted about 5 minutes and ended when I was finally able to de-tail him. I switched to his view on the last one so it is easier to see (plus the sun glare was a problem in film).
