Here are some sample screenshots I took for those who are still at work, or didn't get a chance to see the fixed terrains. These were taken at 1600x1200 resolution, using the hi-res texture pack. They are unaltered and direct from the game, with the exception of image size and format.
As I've posted in other thread, playing first time on this new patch one may feel that the visuals are 'washed out'. This is what I recommend you should do:
First, try to reset monitor and AH game gamma settings to 1.0. Since AH only deals in gamma adjustments, you can always change this later after you've set other settings first. Add a bit of contrast to the monitor so the "washed out" feel goes away, and then adjust the brightness or intensity of the monitor to your liking. You might also want to retouch the RGB values of your monitor a bit. And then, after all that's done, finally adjust the gamma while in game.
I've set my settings so it matches perfectly to my taste, and this is what I have (it might be a bit darker for other people):
A low-alt shot from a Bf109K-4
Starting a climb in a P-51D, shortly after take-off
10~11 O'c view, while changing heading towards target zone. Hapstur's throwing a riot again
High-alt shot.. after grabbing some altitude, the repetitive patterns show a bit.. the only drawback IMO
A brief snap-shot during combat - it's breathtakingly beautiful[/b]
Frankly, this is the best terrain I've flown in any flight-sim genre game.
[edit] On the general, IMO IL2/FB/'45 series does have a better terrain. However, that's in accordance to their advanced lighting methods, the more detailed depiction of smoke, fire, clouds.. the water, the reflections, etc etc. However, when one compares the trees, the forests, and the earth itself - which makes up more than 90% of what you see on the terrain, AH is (now) definately better.
