Bomber Co-Pilots
« on: April 30, 2007, 01:25:31 AM »
I would like to the see option for bombers that when someone joins the aircraft they could also act as the Co-Pilot as well as a gunner.  Most large bombers had Co-Pilots and would be nice to see such an option in the game.

Others thoughts.?

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

I think it would be nice yes, to be able to pass of the flying for, say gunning, if the fellow is a bad gunner. It would also make it easier to teach newbs to fly their bomber... (I was having a hell of a time trying with two seperate planes today)

Why not just allow more gunners to join formations?  Let the Pilot Fly, and the gunner's gun?

Not saying anything wrong with Idea, just that all the old hands would be jumping in noobs plane and taking over...lol

Or, You could maybe say that if the Pilot gets a P.W., Then the pilot could switch over to the Co-Pilot, or vice versa.

Sorry, been sitting in here reading forum's for years and finally decided to Jump in.  :)  Maybe I should go back to cave and hibernate some more :)

Soultakr,  Perhap the issue you bring up could be solved in this manner.

The Original pilot would still credit for the sortie if they die from wounds, perhaps a posthumus (sp?) name in lights type thing for landin kills if any were earned, like when a CV gunner with kills gets nailed by a bomb or something and they get credit for the kills still.  Thus if a noob pilot was pilot wounded and died and the more experienced Co-Pilot landed the aircraft, the dead noob would still get credit for the sortie.

How such details would be implemented in code for the game, beats me.

Heck it would be nice for all people to get posthumus name in lights for having more than 2 kills.  Just wishing.

That would be nice too, the same should be said with all pilots and GV'ers though that die w/ more than 2.

EX:  SoulTakr was killed with 4 kills in a FW190D, yada yada

Would def be nice for folks to know that their sortie wasn't in vain.

A special trainer aircraft would be cool, think of the T-6 or something.
Just 1 plane in the planeset that enables multi-steering, this would be excellent for training newb's!

Newb tries something stupid, gets in a 'unrecoverable' spin, and the trainer saves the aircraft.
Imagine how fast someone would learn how to fly, without having to take-off everytime! (which is difficult too)

I would rather see a fully manable bomber then have a formation with only 2 people on it.  More realistic and more fun and u can cover all angles of the bomber better.  U also don't have all guns pointing at yea like lazers as u do with only 1 gunner controlling all the guns.
