I bought a Fisher Price Power Wheels Barbie Lamborghini at a rummage sale for $5 yesterday morning; its battery was shot.  I have an old car battery; I figured I could keep the cost of the car at $5 if I jammed it in somewhere.  (I have since found and viewed much of http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/ and now know that wet cell car batteries are a dangerous idea.)  Anyway, the battery compartment under the seat is too small for a big battery…  But there’s just enough space between the rear axle and the back of the car.  I made a battery support out of some scrap 1/4” polycarbonate and snipped the plug off of the dead stock battery.  I figured locating so much weight so far back should help it with traction since it has slicks and will be running on grass; my girls might even get it to pop wheelies.  Well, it does/did.  On modifiedpowerwheels.com I’ve seen faster modified Power Wheels. This thing, however, is/was prone to lifting the front wheels off the grass while it accelerates.  For awhile my seven-year-old daughter was driving and my five-year-old daughter was sitting behind her; they could ride a wheelie indefinitely.  After 10 or 15 minutes of hard use I see the older one with her arms up in confusion/frustration; the Lambo also was belching smoke.  I got her off of it and could hear arcing.  I opened it up and saw smoke coming out of the motors and rear of the car.  The insulation on wires from the battery melted and shorted.  After opening a gear box I found that the motor drive shaft spun free inside the first little plastic gear and pretty much meted the inside of it.  The other motor/gear box appears to be OK, but I’m pretty sure it was smoking too.  It was fun while it lasted; I’ll shelve it until I find a better battery and replacement gear.

Actually I know which car you bought. It was the cheaper of the two types you can buy.
I made the same mistake.
I works fine if your going across a sidewalk but over grass? Forgeddaboutit

Trust me. Just get the more expencive of the two versions and remove the little bolt they have under the gas pedal (like the instructions say) to make it able to go faster.

You'll be amazed at how that little thing can cook around the yard.

Couple years ago my Wheel borrow broke and I needed to move some pavers I ibought into my back yard so Pressed my daughter and her little barbie jeep into service.
Was only abot to load a few at a time but my daughter had a blast helping and it sure beat carrying them all back there by hand LOL
