If you get an assist in a kill, are you awarded any points?
I know it is not reflected in you kills total, but it should be.
If a pilot was involved in a kill during WWII, he would get credit with
1/2 a kill.
Does any one else agree that we should get a 1/2 kill for an assist
and try to get HT to change it?

You get points and it's added to your stats as an assist, you just don't get your name in lights.

You get "damage vs enemy" points on your score anytime you hit them with shots.  You do not get perk points if you were not awarded the kill.

The only change Id like to see happen is that kill award tracking stops the instant someone does fatal damage to a plane (eg. missing entire wing, missing tail, ect.), to address the lamers who blast away at a plane that someone else obviously already shot down.

It's happened to me 3 times in just the past few days, stealing the kill and leaving me with the assist each time (one missing wing, one missing tail and one flaming).  I agree, that's lame.

Thats just one of the many A-holes and noobs flying in the MA who will keep shooting at a fataly wounded plane to pad their stats. Had the same thing happen to me too many times. I just keep plugging away till they go BOOM! Thats the best way to prevent it happening. Damn it would be nice if they would turn off killshooter from time to time!

I could see problems if kill tracking were to stop when a fire is started, but I like the idea of incrementally awarding fire damage to the player who caused the fire.  (not that my opinion means much to the HTC crew, lol)

What I was saying is whoever set the plane on fire would get the kill no matter what happens, if he dies from fire or from bullets. I dont like the idea of me lighting a bomber up and some ard coming in and geting the kill when theres no need to shoot him anymore.

A long time ago, HT seemed to agree in pricipal that stopping kill award tracking would be ok when the ability to have controled flight was impossible.  Judging from that, I don't think he'd go along with a player having "dibs" on the kill before a massive structual failure.  Point being that a plane on fire still has controled flight, and can still kill or bomb for a limited time.  From comments Ive seen in the past, I think HTC's stance would be it makes them "fair game".

Though I do know exactly the frustration you are talking about.

Krusty's wishlist post seems like it would be more acceptable.  Not that I have great hopes it would be implemented, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Missing whole wing or tail is kill. Burning fuel is not until it explodes.

i have had that happen so many times its crazy when i make a high speed pass in my mustang and blow off the tail or wing from some poor schmuk( at this point im climbing away thinking the dudes dead) but no, sometimes theyll ditch but then when they stay in the plane you see this sudden mas horde of spits and la7s dive on the mangled corpse and poof   "you landed an assist on ------"     god f**** dam lol i get kinda angry cause it happens once a day at least. but sometimes you nail the perfect shot on the first pass and boom.
