I don't think I remember seeing this suggested before, so here goes.
Alot of people in the entertainment industry have blog's and many do a podcast every now and again. Some more memorable ones include a selection of questions asked, and answers to them.
I know HTC Inc. is a "celebrity" in many of our minds
, so what about it?
say once a month or there abouts, maybe even every 6 weeks, Dale / Doug / whoever does a quick 20 minute podcast, telling the going ons, status of known things, whatever. Have a new email address questions @ hitechcreations.com created, and choose 3 or 4 from the bunch to talk about.
You wouldn't have to worry about live questions disrupting trains of thought, and you don't even have to worry about making the sound quality "studio-like".
I for one would love to hear them, even a 5 minute blurb "CT closed alpha is going along fine. the AI aircraft are doing XXXX. We are focusing the testing on XXX part of it right now. The art team is working on the 3-D model of the B25, and the skinning team may start working on the skin around XXX give or take a few weeks."
So on ans so forth. I for one know typing up a long "news" item is a PITA, and this may be one way to reach out to the community in an easier fashion. Also for new or prospective players reading the home page, they could DL and listen to the game developers, and get a feel for what AH is all about.
I'd also ask, even though many here on the forum have seen / DL'd / listened to the con tapes, why not host them on the main page for all to listen to. I bet if some newer players were to actually HEAR the stuff about collisions and GV models, they would whine less on the forum.
I bet someone here would be willing to chop those up to shorter segments on specific topics, heck I can even work on it, I have some good sound editing tools. Those "shorter" snippets could be hosted too, with a description of "HTC on collisions from the last convention", or "HTC on thoughts for CT"
Anyway it is a thing many people are doing, and maybe HTC would lure a few more customers in with it.
heck even some "fun" stuff could be in there... "Dale says: I took Waffle up for a flight the other afternoon, and he puked so hard we had to go land. Pyro got a new gun for defense of HQ, and has been firing off random rounds into the ceiling, causing a few jumpy moments... the piloce let him off with a warning this time. That truck driver guy showed up last thrusday and gave us some XXX ice cream..."
things like that
